Animals are called by their scientific name due to not confused by common name that is called different in different country.or may be one country has different common name of one thing.
Example:
The scientific name of onion is Allium cepa but it's really be confused with the common name just like pyaz onion Ganda or many more that's why scientific name has more importance than common name.
